Carrier lines
SIP trunking in Oman with Omantel and Ooredoo
A SIP trunk is your outside line delivered over the internet connection instead of copper. The UCM6300 registers to SIP trunks from Omantel and Ooredoo the same way it registers any standard SIP provider, so you aren't tied to one carrier for the life of the system.
Before configuration starts, get three things from your carrier: the trunk registration details (server, username, password or IP authentication), the number range you've been allocated, and the number of concurrent call channels on the contract. That last one matters. The PBX can only carry as many outside calls as the trunk allows, whatever the UCM model is rated for.
If you still have analog lines, most UCM models have FXO ports for them, which makes a staged move easier. Analog phones and fax machines connect through the FXS ports or a GXW4200 gateway.
A word on cordless. The W models in this range are Wi-Fi desk phones for desks you can't cable, not handsets for staff who walk around. For roaming staff on a large site, DECT is usually more reliable than Wi-Fi handsets, because Wi-Fi roaming across a big steel building is harder than it looks and a dropped call on a warehouse floor is a real problem. DECT isn't part of the range listed here, so tell us if you need it.

Grandstream in Oman: quick answers
Does Grandstream charge per-user license fees?
Not on the UCM6300 PBX itself. You buy the hardware and add users up to the rated capacity of the model, with no per-extension license on top. Optional cloud services such as UCM RemoteConnect have their own plans, so ask us which ones your setup actually needs.
How much does a Grandstream phone system cost in Oman?
It depends on the seat count, the handset mix and whether you need analog lines on the PBX. Most systems are quoted as a project. Send us the number of users, the number of sites and the handsets you have in mind and we'll price the whole list.
Will Grandstream work with Omantel or Ooredoo SIP trunks?
Yes. The UCM6300 is a standard SIP platform, so it registers to SIP trunks from Omantel and Ooredoo. You'll need the trunk credentials and number range from your carrier before configuration starts.
Can I keep my existing phone numbers?
Usually, yes. Number porting is arranged with your carrier, Omantel or Ooredoo. The UCM also has FXO ports on most models, so existing analog lines can connect to it during a staged move.
How many users can a UCM system support?
The UCM6301 supports up to 500 users and 75 concurrent calls, the UCM6304 up to 2,000 users and 300 calls, and the UCM6308 up to 3,000 users and 450 calls. The audio-only UCM6304A and UCM6308A support 1,000 and 1,500 users.
Do you install the system or only supply it?

Is VoIP allowed for businesses in Oman?
The compliant route for a business phone system is SIP trunking from a licensed operator such as Omantel or Ooredoo, connected to your own IP PBX. Check the terms of your service with your carrier before you plan the system.
What is the difference between the UCM6304 and the UCM6304A?
Both have 4 FXS and 4 FXO ports and three Gigabit PoE+ ports. The UCM6304 supports up to 2,000 users and 300 concurrent calls with video calling and video meetings. The UCM6304A is the audio-only version, with up to 1,000 users and 150 concurrent calls.
