Fyber Structured Cabling and Fibre Supplies in Oman

Cabling is the one part of a camera or access project that cannot be upgraded later without pulling ceilings apart. We supply the copper, fibre and passive hardware that carries data and PoE to every device on site.

What structured cabling and fibre supplies actually cover

Structured cabling is the part of a surveillance or network project that nobody photographs and everybody blames later. It covers the horizontal copper runs between patch panel and device, the fibre backbone between buildings or floors, and the passive hardware that terminates both ends — patch panels, keystone jacks, faceplates, cable managers, trunking and the enclosures that hold them. On a camera project it is what carries both data and Power over Ethernet to every device on the site.

What to get right when you specify it

  • Category and shielding. Cat6 U/UTP is the practical default for PoE camera runs. Move to Cat6A or shielded F/UTP where runs sit alongside heavy power cable, in industrial plant, or where 10G uplinks are planned. Shielding only works if it is bonded properly at the panel — an unbonded shield is worse than none.
  • The 100 metre rule. 100 m is the total channel limit for copper, including patch leads at both ends, not just the cable in the wall. Design to about 90 m of fixed cable so patching does not push you over. Anything longer needs an intermediate switch, a PoE extender, or fibre.
  • Fibre type. Single-mode for anything between buildings or beyond a few hundred metres; multi-mode only for short in-building backbones. Pre-terminated assemblies remove on-site splicing risk when there is no fusion splicer on the team.
  • Conductor material. Solid copper conductors, not copper-clad aluminium. CCA fails PoE current delivery over distance and is a common cause of cameras that boot, then drop under load — a fault that looks like a camera problem and is not.
  • Environment. Outdoor and roof runs in Oman need UV-stable, gel-filled or armoured cable rated for the temperature range. Standard indoor PVC jacket degrades quickly in direct sun.

Buying it through Elite Infotech

  • Solid-copper construction stocked as standard — we do not carry copper-clad aluminium, because it fails PoE current delivery over distance.
  • Reels and pre-terminated fibre assemblies held for project quantities, so a run does not stop for a splice.
  • Bill-of-materials pricing for integrators and contractors, quoted against a cable schedule rather than sold by the box.
  • Four branches with national delivery — Muscat, Ruwi, Salalah and Sohar.
Frequently Asked Questions

Fyber — Quick Answers

What cable category should I use for Dahua PoE cameras?
Cat6 U/UTP with solid copper conductors covers the large majority of PoE camera installations. Specify Cat6A or a shielded construction where cable runs parallel to mains power, in industrial environments, or where the network will later carry 10G uplinks.
How far can a PoE camera run from the switch?
100 metres is the total channel limit, and that includes the patch leads at both ends. Design for roughly 90 metres of fixed cable. Beyond that you need an intermediate switch, a PoE extender, or a fibre link with a media converter at the camera end.
Should I use single-mode or multi-mode fibre?
Single-mode for links between buildings, along perimeters, or beyond a few hundred metres. Multi-mode is only worth it for short in-building backbones where the optics cost saving is real. For sites without a fusion splicer on the team, pre-terminated assemblies avoid on-site splicing risk.
Why does copper-clad aluminium cable cause camera faults?
CCA cannot carry PoE current over distance the way solid copper can. The usual symptom is a camera that powers up and then drops out under load, especially with IR illuminators at night. It reads as a camera fault, so it can waste days of diagnosis. Specify solid copper.
Does Elite Infotech supply cabling to end users?
No. We are a B2B wholesale distributor supplying integrators, IT resellers and project contractors. We do not carry out installation. Send your bill of materials with quantities and we will quote at project pricing.
