LED Display Price in Oman: What a Screen Actually Costs in 2026

Supply-only price ranges by pixel pitch in Omani Rial, what sits outside the panel quote, and why an outdoor screen that works in a Dubai mall may fail on a roadside in Sohar.

Published 10 min read By Munzeem Bin Mujeeb

Ask three suppliers in Muscat to quote the same 20-square-metre LED wall and you will get three numbers that look like they belong to different projects. One comes back at 4,000 rial. Another at 11,000. The third wants a site visit before saying anything at all.

None of them is necessarily wrong.

LED display pricing moves on pixel pitch, brightness, cabinet build and where the screen is going — and a quote that ignores the steel structure, the control system and the customs duty is not a quote, it is an opening position. This page gives you the actual ranges for Oman in Omani Rial, shows you what sits outside the panel price, and explains why a screen that works in a Dubai mall atrium may fail on a roadside in Sohar.

Read it before you take a quote. It will tell you which questions to ask.

Why Oman changes the numbers

Most LED pricing guides online are written by Chinese factories for a global audience. They are useful for understanding the technology. They are misleading about what you will pay here, for four reasons.

You cannot buy the bottom of the outdoor range

Summer surface temperatures on an Omani facade regularly exceed 50°C, and the dust load is relentless. An outdoor screen specified at the cheap end — thin steel cabinet, entry-grade LED chips, basic sealing — will show brightness drift and module failure inside two summers.

For Oman, an outdoor screen needs 5,000 to 10,000 nits to stay readable in direct sun, IP65 or better sealing against dust ingress, and active thermal management. That places realistic outdoor pricing in the middle of the published range, not the bottom of it. A quote at the absolute floor of the billboard band is a quote for a screen built for a cooler climate.

Landed cost is not panel cost

Panels arriving into Oman carry shipping, customs duty and VAT before they reach your wall. GCC common external tariff on most imported goods runs around 5%, and Oman VAT adds a further 5%. On a 10,000-rial panel order that is roughly 1,000 rial before anyone has lifted a bracket.

Buying from a distributor who already holds stock in Oman removes the freight lead time and the import handling from your project timeline. It does not remove the duty — but it does mean the duty is already in the number you were quoted, rather than arriving as a surprise later.

Installation labour and structure are local costs

The steel structure, the crew, the crane hire, the electrical work — none of that is imported. It is priced in Oman, against local rates, and it scales with how difficult your mounting surface is. A flat concrete wall in an office lobby and a curved facade ten metres above a highway are not the same job.

Power costs run for a decade

A screen running twelve hours a day for ten years will consume electricity worth a meaningful fraction of what you paid for it. Common-cathode designs cut power draw by up to 40% for roughly 10–15% more upfront. On a large outdoor screen in continuous operation, that pays back well inside the warranty period.

The costs that are not in the panel quote

Across the industry, panels account for only 50 to 60 percent of a finished LED project. The rest is structure, labour, control and compliance. Here is what typically sits outside the headline number.

Cost item Typical share Indicative cost (OMR)
Steel mounting structure40 – 310 per m²
Installation, flat wall75 – 190 per m²
Installation, curved or custom270 – 960 per m²
Control system & video processor190 – 1,920 total
Spare module inventory5–10% of module count
Electrical infrastructure115 – 1,150 total
Customs duty & VATOn declared value
Annual maintenance contractQuoted per project

Two things that catch buyers out

Spare modules must come from the same production batch as the screen. LED colour temperature varies between batches, and a replacement from a later run will show as a visible patch on the wall.

Structural surveys should happen before you sign, not after. A facade that needs reinforcement can move a project budget more than any pixel pitch decision.

Three worked examples

Indicative only. Real figures depend on site conditions, specification and volume.

Reception video wall — indoor P2.5, 12 m²

  • Panels at OMR 230–460 per m²: OMR 2,760 – 5,520
  • Structure, installation, control system, spares: add roughly 35–50%
  • Realistic delivered budget: OMR 3,900 – 8,000

Fine pitch is wasted here unless people stand within two metres of the wall. In a reception where the nearest viewer is three metres away, P2.5 is the right call and P1.5 is money spent on resolution nobody can see.

Roadside advertising billboard — outdoor P8, 24 m²

  • Panels at OMR 135–365 per m²: OMR 3,240 – 8,760
  • Heavier steelwork, elevated installation, higher electrical load: add roughly 50–70%
  • Realistic delivered budget: OMR 5,200 – 14,000

The spread is wide because the mounting decides it. A ground-mounted unipole and a screen bolted to an existing building facade are very different structural jobs, and the difference is measured in thousands, not hundreds.

Retail storefront — transparent LED, 8 m²

  • Panels at OMR 230–1,540 per m²: OMR 1,840 – 12,320
  • Lighter structure, but glazing integration adds complexity
  • Realistic delivered budget: OMR 2,600 – 15,000

Transparent LED has the widest range of any category. A basic mesh panel at 60% transparency and a high-resolution holographic panel for a luxury shopfront are separated by a factor of six. Decide how much of the window you are willing to lose before you compare quotes.

The single most expensive mistake: over-specifying pixel pitch

Pixel pitch is the distance in millimetres between LED pixels, and it is the steepest cost curve in the entire product category. Halve the pitch and you roughly quadruple the number of LEDs per square metre.

A P10 screen holds about 10,000 pixels per m². A P4 holds around 62,500. A P2 holds roughly 250,000.

The rule that saves the most money

Minimum comfortable viewing distance in metres is approximately equal to the pixel pitch number in millimetres. A P3 screen looks sharp from three metres. A P10 looks sharp from ten.

Viewing distance Recommended pitch Where this applies
Under 2 mP1.2 – P1.8Broadcast, close-viewed lobby walls
2 – 4 mP2 – P2.5Boardrooms, reception, retail interiors
4 – 8 mP3 – P4Showrooms, auditoriums, conference halls
8 – 20 mP5 – P6Building facades, shopfronts, plazas
20 m and beyondP8 – P10Roadside billboards, stadium screens

Specifying P1.5 for a wall viewed from six metres can add over a thousand rial per square metre for a difference no one in the room will ever notice. If a supplier pushes finer pitch than your viewing distance justifies, ask them to explain why.

What a proper quote should itemise

Any supplier can produce a number. A quote you can actually compare should break out, separately:

  • Panel specification — pixel pitch, brightness in nits, IP rating, refresh rate, LED chip brand
  • Cabinet material and whether service access is front or rear
  • Steel structure and any required reinforcement
  • Installation scope, including electrical and cabling
  • Control system, video processor and any software licensing
  • Spare modules, and confirmation they are from the same batch
  • Warranty duration and what it covers
  • Customs duty and VAT treatment
  • Maintenance contract terms

Read this line back to any supplier

If a supplier will not itemise, you cannot compare their number to anyone else's. That is usually the point.

How Elite Infotech quotes LED projects in Oman

We supply and install, which means one team is accountable for the screen and for the way it is mounted. When a supplier sells the panel and subcontracts the installation, warranty disputes become a conversation between two companies who each blame the other.

Every quote starts with a site assessment — viewing distance, ambient light, mounting surface, structural capacity and available power. We specify against those measurements rather than against a catalogue.

As the authorised National Distributor of Dahua Technology in Oman, we hold stock locally and serve projects from four branches across the Sultanate: Muscat, Ruwi, Sohar and Salalah. Screens are specified for Omani operating conditions as standard, not as an upgrade, and all installations are supported by annual maintenance contracts covering cleaning, colour calibration, software updates and priority on-site response.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an LED display cost in Oman?

Supply-only pricing runs from roughly OMR 135 per square metre for a large-pitch outdoor billboard to OMR 1,540 per square metre for fine-pitch indoor or high-end transparent panels. A finished project typically lands 35 to 70 percent above the panel figure once structure, installation, control systems, duty and VAT are included.

Why do LED screen quotes vary so much for the same size?

Pixel pitch is the largest single driver — a P2 panel can cost three to five times a P5 of the same brand. After that: LED chip grade, cabinet material, IP rating, refresh rate and driver quality. Two screens can read identically on a spec sheet and differ by hundreds of rial per square metre in what is actually inside them.

Is an outdoor LED screen more expensive than an indoor one?

Per square metre at the same pixel pitch, yes. Outdoor screens need 5,000 nits or more against 600 to 1,200 indoors, IP65 sealing, and thermal management for Omani summers. But most outdoor applications are viewed from a distance and use a coarser pitch, so a large outdoor billboard often costs less per square metre overall than a fine-pitch indoor wall.

What is the cheapest LED display option for advertising in Oman?

A P8 or P10 outdoor screen, at roughly OMR 135 to 365 per square metre supply-only. It is the correct choice for roadside viewing beyond twenty metres. Be careful at the very bottom of that band — screens built to the lowest price are usually not built for 50°C and heavy dust.

Do I need to pay customs duty and VAT on an LED screen in Oman?

Imported LED displays attract GCC customs duty of approximately 5% and Oman VAT at 5%. Buying through a distributor holding local stock means these are already reflected in the quoted price rather than appearing later as separate charges. Confirm the treatment for your specific project.

How long does an LED display last?

Commercial-grade panels are rated for 100,000 hours or more, which is over eleven years of continuous operation. Reaching that in Oman depends on maintenance — dust removal, colour recalibration and thermal system checks. Screens run without a maintenance programme degrade noticeably faster in this climate.

Can I get a fixed price without a site visit?

For a standard indoor wall on a flat surface, an indicative figure is straightforward. For anything outdoor, elevated, curved or structurally complex, a site assessment is the only way to price the steelwork and installation honestly. A supplier who commits to a firm outdoor price sight-unseen is either padding the number or planning to revise it.
