Teklo Access Control and Turnstile Accessories in Oman

Access control fails at the door, not in the software. We supply the locks, sensors, egress devices and turnstile hardware that decide whether a controlled door passes its fire inspection.

What access control and turnstile hardware actually covers

This is the mechanical and electrical layer that sits under the access control system: electromagnetic and electric strike locks, drop bolts, door position sensors, exit buttons and emergency break-glass units, power supplies with battery backup, and the turnstile and gate hardware used at staffed entrances. The reader and the software get specified carefully; the hardware that physically holds the door usually does not, and that is where most access control projects fail their first fire inspection.

What to get right when you specify it

  • Fail-safe versus fail-secure. This is a life-safety decision, not a preference. Fail-safe locks release on power loss and belong on escape routes. Fail-secure locks stay locked and belong on server rooms and stores. Getting it backwards either traps people in a fire or unlocks the assets during a power cut.
  • Holding force with a real margin. Match the maglock to the door's weight, width and expected abuse, then leave margin. A 280 kg lock on a heavy external door in a high-traffic entrance is not over-specification, it is the correct answer.
  • Door position monitoring. Without a door contact the system knows a door was authorised, not whether it actually closed. Door-held and door-forced alarms depend on it, and it is the single most frequently omitted component on a bill of materials.
  • Backup power sized to the standard. Power supplies need battery autonomy that meets the local requirement, and the batteries need a replacement schedule. An access system that opens every door at the start of a two-hour outage is a security incident, not a fault.
  • Egress and fire interface. Every controlled door on an escape route needs a compliant request-to-exit device and a hard-wired interface to the fire alarm that releases locks independently of the access software. Software-only release is not acceptable and will not pass inspection.

Buying it through Elite Infotech

  • Fail-safe and fail-secure variants both stocked, so the escape-route decision is made on the drawing rather than by whatever was available.
  • Door contacts and request-to-exit devices quoted as standard line items — the two components most often missing from a door schedule.
  • Power supplies with battery backup sized to the autonomy the specification actually requires.
  • Four branches with national delivery — Muscat, Ruwi, Salalah and Sohar.
Frequently Asked Questions

Teklo — Quick Answers

What is the difference between fail-safe and fail-secure locks?
Fail-safe locks unlock when power is removed and are used on escape routes so people can always get out. Fail-secure locks stay locked without power and are used where asset protection matters, such as server rooms and stores. Choosing the wrong one either traps occupants during a fire or releases secure areas during a power cut.
What holding force should I specify for a maglock?
Match it to the door's weight, width and traffic level, then add margin. Heavy external doors and high-traffic entrances typically warrant a 280 kg unit. Under-specifying is a common cause of doors that can be pulled open by hand after a few months of use.
Why is a door position sensor necessary?
Without it the system only knows that access was granted, not whether the door actually closed. Door-held-open and door-forced alarms both depend on the contact, and it is the component most often left off a bill of materials.
How much battery backup does an access control door need?
Enough autonomy to meet the applicable local requirement, with a documented battery replacement schedule. A system that releases every door at the start of a long outage is a security incident rather than an inconvenience.
Does Elite Infotech supply access hardware to end users?
No. We supply integrators, contractors and resellers on a wholesale basis and do not carry out installation. Send your door schedule with quantities and we will quote at project pricing.
