What a SanDisk SSD costs in Oman
Portable SSD pricing tracks capacity closely, and the market reference in Oman for a 2TB portable SSD sits around the high fifties in OMR. The Extreme and Extreme PRO differ mainly on throughput — roughly 1,050MB/s against 2,000MB/s — so the premium is only worth paying if you are editing directly off the drive rather than copying files onto it.

Portable SSDs
The Extreme Portable SSD is the drive most of our customers actually want. Up to 1,050MB/s read, USB-C, IP65 rated against dust and water, and built to survive a two-metre drop.
That IP65 rating is not marketing here. Dust gets into everything in this country, and a drive that lives in a vehicle or a site bag will meet more of it than the specification sheet imagines.
The Extreme PRO shares the same physical build at roughly double the throughput.
Memory cards
Extreme microSDXC carries A2 app performance class and V30 sustained video rating. This is the card for dashcams, drones and action cameras, because it is rated for continuous sequential writing rather than occasional file storage.
Ultra microSDXC is the general-purpose card — fine for a phone or tablet, wrong for anything recording continuously.
Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-II covers professional camera bodies, with the UHS-II bus for burst shooting and high-bitrate video.
Flash drives
Ultra Dual Drive Go carries both USB-C and USB-A, which solves the everyday problem of moving a file between a new laptop and an older desktop. The iXpand Luxe adds a Lightning connector for iPhone users who have not moved to USB-C.
Which SanDisk card belongs in a security camera
Not the cheap one. This is the mistake we correct most often, so it gets its own section.
A camera recording to an SD card writes continuously, in sequence, indefinitely. That sustained write pattern is the specific thing that kills consumer-grade cards. A standard microSD card in a camera typically lasts a few months before it starts dropping frames or refusing writes, and it rarely announces the problem.
For edge recording in a Dahua camera — or any IP camera with an onboard slot — use a card rated for continuous video, V30 endurance class as an absolute minimum. SanDisk's Extreme line meets that bar. For a serious installation we would generally specify a high-endurance surveillance card instead.

Spotting a counterfeit before you buy
Worth knowing even if you buy elsewhere.
- Price well below the market is the clearest signal. Storage is a commodity with thin margins — nobody is legitimately half the price of everyone else.
- Check the serial number on the packaging against SanDisk's own verification. A genuine card has one and it validates.
- Test capacity before you trust it. Write a full card's worth of data and read it back. A counterfeit fails this and nothing else reveals it.
- Buy from an authorised channel. It is the only method that works before the fact rather than after.
