What CCTV accessories and wiring actually cover
Accessories are the category that decides whether an installation survives its second summer. It covers junction and termination boxes, pole and corner mounts, weatherproof glands and connectors, power supplies and distribution boxes, surge protection, and the brackets and back-boxes that let a camera sit where the design says it should. None of it appears on the camera datasheet, and all of it appears in the callback log when it is specified badly.
What to get right when you specify it
- Ingress protection. IP66 is the working minimum for anything outdoors in Oman. Coastal sites near Muttrah, Sohar or Salalah need corrosion-resistant housings and stainless fixings — powder-coated mild steel bleeds rust down a facade within a season.
- Junction boxes sized for the job. The box has to fit the camera's own pigtail plus an RJ45 boot plus a service loop. Boxes chosen on price are usually too shallow, which forces the installer to crush the cable against the lid and creates an intermittent fault that appears months later.
- Glands and sealing. Every cable entry below the horizontal is a water path. Correctly sized compression glands, and blanking plugs in unused entries, matter more than the housing rating on the label.
- Power budget and distribution. Size the PSU for peak draw, not idle: IR illuminators and heaters pull hardest at night and in winter, which is exactly when the footage matters. Leave real headroom per channel and fuse channels individually so one shorted run does not drop a whole rack.
- Surge protection. Roof-level and perimeter cameras on long copper runs need surge arrestors on both data and power. It is materially cheaper than replacing switch ports after the first storm.
Buying it through Elite Infotech
- Outdoor-rated housings and stainless fixings stocked for coastal sites, where powder-coated mild steel stains a facade within a season.
- Junction boxes sized to take a camera pigtail, an RJ45 boot and a service loop without crushing the cable.
- Power supplies and surge protection quoted against a real peak-load calculation, not a channel count.
- Four branches with national delivery — Muscat, Ruwi, Salalah and Sohar.
