The GXP1625 is a plain, dependable desk phone for people who mostly make and take calls. Two line keys, two SIP accounts, a 2.95-inch backlit display and HD audio on both the handset and the speakerphone. It takes PoE, which is the one thing that separates it from the GXP1620.

What makes it easy to live with is the row of 13 dedicated keys. Hold, transfer, conference, intercom and record all have their own buttons, so staff don't dig through menus. It also supports 3-way conferencing and Plantronics EHS headsets.

The GXP2140 is the middle of the GXP range. It has four line keys and four SIP accounts on a 4.3-inch color screen, with Gigabit ports, PoE, Bluetooth and a USB port.

It suits a manager or supervisor who handles a steady call volume and wants a Bluetooth headset. If they later need busy-lamp keys, it powers up to four GXP2200EXT modules.

The GXP2170 is the busiest desk phone in the GXP line. It gives you 12 line keys with dual-color LEDs, six SIP accounts and 48 digital speed-dial or BLF keys on a 4.3-inch color screen. That's enough for a receptionist or an executive assistant to watch a whole office without adding anything.

When 48 isn't enough, it powers up to four GXP2200EXT modules for 160 more contacts. Bluetooth, USB, Gigabit ports and PoE are built in, and on a Grandstream UCM it provisions with zero config and records a call with one touch.

The GBX20 clips to the side of a compatible phone and adds a 4.3-inch color screen with 20 keys per page and two pages, so 40 contacts per module. Chain four and you have 160. Each key can do BLF, call park, speed dial, presence or intercom.

Check the phone before you order. It works with the GRP2615, GRP2670 and GXV3450 on our list, plus the GRP2624, GRP2650 and GXV3350. It doesn't work with the GXP2140 or GXP2170.

One module runs off the phone's power. With two or more, the datasheet calls for a 12 V power supply, so plan that in.
