Who the GXV range is for

The GXV phones are for the desks that already spend half the day on video: managers, clinic front desks, anyone who joins calls from a laptop and wishes they didn't. Both models run Android 14, carry a 2 megapixel camera with a privacy shutter, and register up to 16 SIP accounts on your UCM6300 PBX or a carrier SIP service.

What separates them from the GRP2610 series is the camera and the Android layer. A GRP is a very good voice phone. A GXV is a voice phone, a video endpoint and a small tablet in one housing, so you can run the meeting apps your team already uses.

They sit at the top of the Grandstream desk range on price. Buy them for the seats that need video, and put GRP models everywhere else.

5-inch Android video IP phone

The GXV3450 is the one to pick for a receptionist or team lead who takes video calls but also works the phone hard. It has physical keys for transfer, conference and hold, a 5-inch touch screen, and it powers up to four GBX20 expansion modules for busy-lamp keys.

Video tops out at 720p with 3-way video conferencing. For a desk that's mostly one-to-one calls, that's enough.

8-inch Android video IP phone

The GXV3480 is built around its 8-inch screen. It does 1080p video, can send people video and shared content at the same time, and has HDMI in and out, so you can put the call on a wall display or share a laptop into it.

It suits a manager's office or a small huddle room that doesn't justify a full conference system. The keys are touch keys, not physical ones, so it's less suited to a high-volume reception desk.

Choosing

GXV3450 or GXV3480

Start with how the desk is used. If the person answers and transfers a lot of calls, get the GXV3450. The physical keys are faster, and it takes GBX20 modules if they need to see colleagues' line status.

If the desk is mostly video meetings, get the GXV3480. The bigger screen, 1080p video and HDMI ports make a real difference, and Wi-Fi 6 helps where the phone can't be cabled.

Neither phone needs its own power supply on a PoE+ switch. That changes if you plug in USB devices or run two or more GBX20 modules on a GXV3450. Then Grandstream says to use PoE+ or the supplied adapter, so budget PoE+ ports from the start.

Deployment notes for Oman

Both phones register to any SIP platform, so they work on a Grandstream UCM6300 connected to an Omantel or Ooredoo SIP trunk, or on a hosted service. Your PBX needs video enabled on the extension, or calls will fall back to audio.

Plan for PoE+ (802.3at) switch ports. Warranty and RMA are handled through Elite Infotech. We supply from our Muscat, Ruwi, Sohar and Salalah branches with delivery across Oman. Installation and configuration go through our integrator and reseller network.

Frequently asked questions

Can the GXV3450 and GXV3480 run Zoom or Microsoft Teams?

Both run Android 14 and support third-party Android apps, so you can install meeting apps. Grandstream doesn't certify them as Teams or Zoom devices on the datasheet, so test the specific app before you roll it out across the office.

Do GXV phones need a PoE+ switch?

Standard PoE (802.3af) runs the phone on its own. Use PoE+ (802.3at) or the included power adapter if you connect USB devices, or two or more GBX20 modules on a GXV3450.

What video resolution do these phones support?

The GXV3450 supports video up to 720p at 30 fps. The GXV3480 goes up to 1080p at 30 fps. Both handle 3-way video conferences.

Can I add busy-lamp keys to a GXV phone?

The GXV3450 powers up to four GBX20 expansion modules, each with 20 keys per page. The GXV3480 datasheet doesn't list expansion module support.

Will GXV phones work with our existing PBX?

Yes, if it speaks standard SIP. They register up to 16 SIP accounts and support the usual provisioning methods, including Grandstream's GDMS and TR-069.
