Direct answer

How many access points do I need?

It depends on construction, not floor area. Open-plan Oman offices run roughly one ceiling AP per 150 to 200 square metres. Concrete-partitioned space such as hotel rooms needs closer to one per 60 to 100 square metres, or a wall unit per room.

Wi-Fi coverage problems are almost never solved by a more powerful access point. They are solved by more access points, placed properly, each running at lower power. A single high-gain unit shouting across a floor produces a strong signal that clients can hear and cannot reply to, because the client device transmits at a fraction of the AP’s power. The result is a phone showing full bars and nothing loading.

Elite Infotech supplies Ruijie and Reyee access points across Oman and will tell you how many the site actually needs rather than selling you one large one. High-density halls are sized on concurrent users instead of area. Send a floor plan.

  • One powerful AP will not cover a whole office — client devices cannot talk back at the same power.
  • Wi-Fi 6 is the sensible spec for new commercial sites; Wi-Fi 5 remains adequate for low density.
  • APs need a PoE switch. Wi-Fi 6 units typically draw 12 to 25 W each.
Mounting First

Choosing by mounting type

The wall-mount category matters more in Oman hospitality than most specification guides acknowledge. Hotel rooms with concrete walls do not get usable coverage from corridor ceiling units.

The Range We Supply

Confirmed indoor and wall-mount models

Wi-Fi generation is published only where it has been verified against the manufacturer data. Additional RAP indoor, outdoor and enterprise models are specified at quotation.

RG-RAP1260

Wi-Fi 6 wall-mount AP. The unit we show most often for hotel rooms and clinic bays where a corridor ceiling AP will not punch through concrete.

Reyee RG-RAP1260 Wi-Fi 6 wall-mount access point

RG-RAP1200(F) and RAP1201

Wi-Fi 5 wall-mount APs. Confirmed for in-room hospitality and accommodation where Wi-Fi 6 is not required.

Reyee RG-RAP1200(F) Wi-Fi 5 wall-mount access point

RG-RAP2200(F) and RAP2200(E)

Wi-Fi 5 ceiling APs for open-plan offices, retail floors and hotel public areas.

Further RAP indoor, Pro, outdoor and Ruijie enterprise models (including RG-AP840-L and RG-AP680-L) are supplied. Radio, antenna and IP ratings are confirmed against the datasheet at quotation rather than inferred from the model number.

Outdoor and directional

Outdoor APs and sector antennas

Outdoor RAP models cover courtyards, car parks, perimeters and gatehouses. IP rating is the specification that decides whether an outdoor AP survives an Omani summer and the coastal humidity in Sohar and Salalah — we confirm it against the position before quoting.

RG-ANT16S-120 (120 degree) and RG-ANT20S-90 (90 degree) provide directional coverage for outdoor deployments where a shaped pattern beats an omnidirectional one — along a perimeter fence or across a yard rather than in all directions from a pole.

Access points are powered over Ethernet. Size the PoE switch at the same time — Wi-Fi 6 units typically draw 12 to 25 W each. Detached buildings that cannot take a cable are a wireless bridge problem, not an AP problem.

How Many

How many access points does a site need

The honest answer is that it depends on construction, not floor area, and anyone quoting from square metres alone is guessing.

A useful starting point for Oman commercial buildings: open-plan office space runs roughly one ceiling AP per 150 to 200 square metres. Concrete-partitioned space such as hotel rooms or clinics needs closer to one per 60 to 100 square metres, or per-room wall units. High-density areas like auditoriums and conference halls are sized on concurrent client count rather than area entirely.

Send us a floor plan and the expected user numbers and we will work it through with you. On larger sites a survey is worth the cost.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How many access points do I need?

It depends on building construction more than floor area. Open-plan office space runs roughly one ceiling unit per 150 to 200 square metres; concrete-partitioned space such as hotel rooms needs closer to one per 60 to 100 square metres. High-density venues are sized on concurrent users instead. Send a floor plan and we will work it through.

Will one powerful access point cover my whole office?

Almost certainly not, and it is the wrong approach. Client devices transmit at much lower power than an access point, so a strong downlink signal does not mean the device can reply. More units at lower power outperform one high-power unit nearly every time.

What is the difference between Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6?

Wi-Fi 6 handles many simultaneous clients far better, which matters in offices, hotels and anywhere with high device density. Wi-Fi 5 remains adequate for low-density sites. For any new commercial deployment, Wi-Fi 6 is the sensible specification.

Do these access points need a PoE switch?

Yes, in almost all deployments. Access points are powered over Ethernet, which is why the switch and the access point count need to be specified together. Wi-Fi 6 units typically draw 12 to 25 W each.

Are the outdoor models suitable for Omani conditions?

The outdoor range is built for external mounting, but confirm the IP rating and operating temperature against your specific position — particularly on coastal sites and anywhere in direct summer sun. We check this at quotation.

Can these be managed centrally?

Yes. Reyee models are managed through Reyee Cloud and the Ruijie enterprise models support cloud or hardware controller management, so multi-site estates can be administered from one place.
