The suffix encodes the interface, sector size and security features. Within one capacity you will find variants such as ST16000NM001H, ST16000NM002H and ST16000NM007H — ordering the wrong suffix is the single most common enterprise procurement error, and a SAS drive will not drop into a SATA backplane.
